Susan and I have been successful dog breeders for over 7 years. We started out part time and have been doing this full time for the last 3 years. When I say full time, I mean that I had to quit my job to help with the business; this is our only source of income.
As far as we can tell we are the largest breeder of Doberman Pinschers in the United States. We do not buy any dogs from others for re-sale as we have heard of others doing. All of the puppies we sell come from our females.
We see all the puppies from birth until they are 9 weeks old to 10 months old for some of the dogs being shipped out of the country, then there are some dogs we keep for future breeding dogs. We see them at every life stage watching their growth and development. Over the years we have tried many different brands of dog food, for better health and/or to save money. Usually when we tried to save money it would come back to haunt us. We could see the changes in the puppy’s joints and development within just a few days.
So we would end up going back to our old favorite, which recently ended up on the recall list along with so many others. The health of the puppies and adult dogs far outweighed the amount of money saved. We wanted healthy dogs for the future of our business as well as top quality puppies for our customers. That is how we built our business, the quality and health of the dogs was most important. We do know large breed dogs!
We understand the importance of top quality puppy and adult dog food; at a fair price. We do not fit into the category of "money is no object". We know what the dogs need for nutrition and a balanced diet and we know what the dog owner needs too; quality food at fair prices.
We all love our pets and would never sacrifice the quality of the product in order to make more profit.
